Laszlo L. Mechtler, M.D.

Received his M.D. degree from Semmelweiss University of Medicine in Budapest, Hungary. He was a neurology resident at the Dent Neurologic Institute from 1985-1987 and was appointed Chief Resident through the State University of New York at Buffalo from July 1987 to June of 1988. Dr. Mechtler completed a Neuro-oncology Fellowship at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas.

Currently an Associate Professor of Neurology at the State University of New York at Buffalo, Dr. Mechtler is also an Attending Neurologist with the Dent Neurologic Institute, Millard Fillmore Hospitals, and the Roswell Park Cancer Institute.

Dr. Mechtler is currently involved in research protocols addressing efficacy of MR imaging techniques in the delineation of metastatic lesions, and the evaluation of superselective chemotherapy treatments.

Kathleen Mogensen, MS, ANP-C
Kathleen Mogensen, MSN, ANP-C received her Master of Science and Nurse Practitioner from the State University of New York at Buffalo in 1985. She is board certified as an Adult Nurse Practitioner from the ANCC. She holds
an appointment as Adjunct Clinical Instructor in the School of Graduate Nursing, SUNY Buffalo.

Kathleen joined Dr. Mechtler at the Dent in 1994 in support of Dr. Mechtler's Neuro-Oncology practice both at the Dent and Roswell Park Cancer Institute, and the Headache clinic at the Dent. She is a sub-investigator
for clinical trials of brain tumor treatment and symptom managment. She is active at the national level of the American Association of Neuroscience Nurses and is a charter member if the nurses section of the Society for Neuro-Oncology.

Areas of interest: Neuro-Oncology, Headache, Symptom Managment, and Quality of Life Issues.

Elizabeth D. Smith, MS, CPNP
Elizabeth Smith received her Master of Science and Pediatric Nurse Practitioner from the State University of New York at Buffalo…She is board certified in pediatrics through the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board. She received her Adult Nurse Practitioner certification from Daemen College. Her clinical experience includes pediatric, adolescent, and adult neurology including seizures and sleep disorders, headache medicine, general pediatrics, internal medicine and emergency/ urgent care.

Elizabeth joined the DENT in 2007. She is presently involved in pediatric neurology, the DENT Headache Center, and general neurology. She is involved in research protocols at the DENT for headache treatment.

Areas of interest include: pediatric and adolescent neurology, adult neurology, seizure treatment, sleep disorders and headache medicine.

Michelle Harper, MS, RPA-C

Michelle Harper, M.S., RPA-C graduated Summa Cum Laude receiving dual Master’s degrees of Science in Psychology and Nutrition from the State University of New York at Buffalo. She received Bachelor’s degrees of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from D’Youville College and in Psychology from the State University of New York at Buffalo.
Internship: Clinical practicum in nutrition at the Erie County Medical Center; Research practicum in epidemiology at Roswell Park Cancer Institute; Clinical practicum in mental health counseling at the State University of New York at Buffalo.
Faculty Appointments: Michelle holds a faculty appointment as an Adjunct Instructor in the Department of Psychology at the State University of New York at Buffalo. She is also an Adjunct Clinical Instructor in the Department of Physician Assistant Studies at D’Youville College.
Research Interests: Michelle is the Principal Investigator of the HANDS (Health, Activity, Nutrition and Diet) Study in the Department of Psychology at the State University of New York at Buffalo. She is also a sub-investigator for clinical trials at Dent Neurologic Institute involving headaches and brain tumor treatment.
