Lixin Zhang, M.D, Ph.D
Dr. Zhang received his MD and PhD in China, and then was invited to the National Institute of Health (NIH), Bethesda, MD as a Fogarty Visiting Fellow between 1993 and 1996. He then became a research assistant professor in the Department of Psychiatry, the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS) in Bethesda, MD from 1996 to1999. He had 12 years of extensive neuroscience research experience with almost 30 peer reviewed publications in various neuroscience journals. As one of the principal investigators, currently Dr. Zhang has multiple national clinical research projects in the areas of Restless Legs Syndrome, Neuropathic Pain and Epilepsy.
Dr. Zhang finished his Neurology Residency and Fellowship in Sleep Medicine and Epilepsy/EEG in the SUNY at Buffalo from 1999 to 2004. Then he joined the Dent Neurological Institute as a full time attending neurologist and sleep specialist. He has passion to see general neurology patients and specialized in the areas of sleep medicine and epilepsy. He is currently developing the “Dizziness and Balance Center” with collaboration with Buffalo ENT group within Dent Institute.

Elizabeth D. Smith, MS, CPNP
Elizabeth Smith received her Master of Science and Pediatric Nurse Practitioner from the State University of New York at Buffalo…She is board certified in pediatrics through the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board. She received her Adult Nurse Practitioner certification from Daemen College. Her clinical experience includes pediatric, adolescent, and adult neurology including seizures and sleep disorders, headache medicine, general pediatrics, internal medicine and emergency/ urgent care.
Elizabeth joined the DENT in 2007. She is presently involved in pediatric neurology, the DENT Headache Center, and general neurology. She is involved in research protocols at the DENT for headache treatment.
Areas of interest include: pediatric and adolescent neurology, adult neurology, seizure treatment, sleep disorders and headache medicine. |
